I am a creative who sees the challenges of the modern world and understands how to stand out in the flood of AI generated content. I enjoy working on projects from conception to final delivery and won't back down from a challenge. I think fast on my feet, can roll with whatever comes my way and am quick to pick up new skills. I can work as part of a team or alone as a self-starter. Whether it's creating graphics, designing a logo, editing video or posting to social media I understand the importance of having a strong brand identity across all forms of media.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Business with a specialization in marketing that I earned from Nelson University in December of 2008. Fresh out of university, starting in February 2009 my first job was at Braeswood Church as an Assistant Media Director. My responsibilities at Braeswood Church included making logos for yearly themes, creating event graphics, the weekly handout and any other graphics the church needed. I also went on trips with the church to film the work they were doing and edit together a video to be played for the congregation. One such video is the Library Project from Chile.
In the spring of 2016, I set my sights on a new challenge. I saw that the South Texas Ministry Network was struggling with their media needs, and I felt that I could help them. They had no full-time staff that was in charge of media and it was obvious. So, I scheduled a meeting with the Superintendent of the South Texas Ministry Network and pitched him the idea of having a full-time Media Director on staff, because of how important media is and that it can't be ignored. He agreed with me and in August of 2016 I began as the full-time Media Director for the South Texas Ministry Network.
Moving into a role that had not existed before had its challenges, but I met them head on and excelled at the task. At the South Texas Ministry Network, I created graphics, logos, videos, websites and social media posts. I updated the Network's logo using modern design language and it is the logo they still use. The Network office was very event driven so I was tasked with creating many graphics for events. In 2019 I had the opportunity to create the logo and event graphics for the National Assemblies of God Executive Leadership Conference that took place in Bever Creek, Colorado. Slide deck graphics were also things I created for the Network's use. For several summer camps I would create a recap video, I would drive to the camp on the day before the camp ended and edit the recap in around 12 hours to show before the kids left the next morning, it was always hectic but always rewarding to see the final product. Other video work that did included shooting and edited podcast videos, videos for our annual conference, and intros to video series. I would also coordinate or run the live production of events depending on what was needed.
Working for smaller organizations has given valuable experience of doing a bit of everything when it comes to media and a little more. For the South Texas Ministry Network, I was tasked with implementing a text to vote system for our annual business meeting, migrating our database to a new system and even filling in and doing accounts payable for the last year and a half.
I work with all things Adobe Creative Cloud, I am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects and Audition. I also work in Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. And for live production ProPresenter.
I live in the Houston metropolitan area with my beautiful wife, our incredible daughter, and our two cats. I love technology and computers, from running beta software on my phone to building computers, I enjoy new technology and the incredible things it brings us. I also enjoy science and space whether its movies, books, or video games; space fascinates me. I enjoy reading anything by Andy Weir and am currently reading the Bobiverse book series.
